Some Old School Personal Worship

The first time I ever heard of Barren Cross was on my senior trip on a tour bus heading to Washington D.C. Without Christ I was enthralled with the heavier bands that were prominent in the ’80’s: Motley Crue, KISS, AC/DC, QuietRiot, Iron Maiden, Dokken, Slayer, Twisted Sister…you get the idea. When I slapped the Sony Walkman headphones on as we cruised across Pennsylvania, I was immediate hooked. Today, as I listened to Spotify, Barren Cross happened to come to mind again.

I listened to their song “Here I Am” off their Rattle Your Cage album and knew I had to post it. It may not be your style, but it’s solid – you can’t argue that. I’m off to ride the iron rails back to the 80s…

I’ve been a fool Lord, can you forgive me for what l have done
I’ve been living my life by my own rules, l walked away from Your holy Son
Oh God now l finally realize that there is only one thing l can do
I repent from my sin, set me free once again, Lord myself l present unto you

[Chorus]
Here l am, take all of me,
Send Your almighty power to come over me
Here l am. Take all of me,
You have given me everything I’ll ever need
Forgive me

You hold the answers Lord, the key to this human race
To know that I’m safe and secure in You’re arms here on earth
There is no better place
Oh God give me faith to live by your Word glorify You in all that l do
It is this that l pray, in Your arms I will stay
My God l cry out to you
